If there's one thing that Barrie does well (he does a lot of things well, but this is the best), it's the bantering. Man, it's just so funny and clever ^_^

Also, totally found a recording of Jim Dale (who did the Harry Potter books) reading Peter Pan. Everyone should get it and listen to it because it's AWESOME.

Also, Peter has no need for mothers. He thinks them very over-rated persons.

I love that scene and I agree with you that Barrie does well; you're right, the bantering is great, that's what makes the story so lively and entertaining :)

But I think Peter DOES need a mother. He doesn't need someone to look over him, since he loves to make his own descicions and be ruler of the world and hates it if someone limits his freedom; but I think deep inside a "Mother" his somewhat of his weak point, the point when he'll feel a subtle pain deep inside, nearly fading away, butjust nearly; cause that is something reminding him of a past he may have or may never had; the one thing others have but he does not, despite him having all the joys children wish for. He doesn't need a mother in the old-fashioned way, I agree here, but I think he needs someone to care for him. Cause that is something he misses; and one of the main reasons he is so attracted to Wendy and later her daughter and granddaughter and their daughter, and so on.
Well, that's just my guess; just what I think.
