Oh Edwardian books, how outdated you are at times, ehehe. But I still love how blissfully happy Wendy is at playing mother, it's so cute ^__^

Enjoy! ^_^

^^ Ah yes, Wendy in her mother role... I think I would've become annoyed rather quickly by it, because playing mother, especially for such a large group of boys, can be pretty exhausting. But I wasn't much of a girlish child anyway. I think I was pretty wilful and stubborn and overall very defiant at times... though I liked to take care of others, I liked my freedom much more. And I think living with Peter only leaves the freedom he grants you... seeing how wilful he can be and how he simply expects everyone to do exactly as they're told. I remember one passage about him cooping the others up in their home under the ground for days just because he was grumpy and angry and didn't feel like going outside at all.
I could be like that, too. Luckily I only had one younger sister, but I guess she sometimes had to suffer pretty bad from me ^^; And that's where mothers - or parents, generally - come into the picture: We had parents who stepped in once I went too far in my rage (well, most of the times, they did...), but Wendy here is not yet at the point to fight back to any order Peter gives. I wouldn't have been able to do that as a child, I'm pretty sure.

Besides that; she does seem happy, that's true :) And judging from later happenings I guess she does think of her mother especially quite a few times, but the thought stays distant as long as she still enjoys her situation.

And time in the neverlands... well, yes ^^ I guess it must be very complicated to tell the time if it is only measured in suns and moons on an island where there are always several of them - how many were there agein? Was it three moons...?

@snow crystal: There was one time Peter played a game where he was like Michael and John, with talking walks and sitting around and stuff, but I don't recall him keeping them indoors or anything ^_^;; Wendy actually seems to be more in control than the others, she's just determined to play her role and feels that "listening" to Peter is a way to do that. However, she flagrantly ignores him at times too eheh.

Actually, I think that line refers to the fact that the sun and moon rise and set more often than on the mainland, so time is just more confusing on the island. Since the island is on Earth somewhere, it uses the same moon and sun ^_^

Really? Huh... I have a few picture books with very shortened texts of Peter Pan, and in one of them the thing with keeping them inside is mentioned... I don't recall everything from the original clearly, since it's been a while since I last read it... but in that picture book it's definitely mentioned. Could be they just put it wrong, though :)

And I never was quite sure if Neverland actually was on earth somewhere - is it?
I had this picture with more moons in my head, but maybe I got that from somewhere else again... Please excuse my confusion, I seem to mistake a lot of things lately...

@snow crystal: Yeah, no, I'm not recalling that part. They could have be summarizing the part where they pretend to not have adventures, but apart from that, nothing quite like that.

Yeah, it's on Earth, they sail home to the mainland on the ocean, and that wouldn't be possible if they were anywhere else ^_^ The Neverland is in children's minds and dreams, but it also manifests on Earth. It's super complicated ^_^;;;
