Soo, how does Hook's poison compare to VX, Soman, Novichok, Botulinum toxin, Polonium 210 ... or Anthrax or Ebola, speaking about being virulent?

@hkmaly: No idea what they'd discovered when Barrie wrote the book, but this is as much detail as he goes into it. Looks like it's pretty nasty stuff is all ^_^

Hmmm ... technically, Marie Curie discovered Polonium in 1898, so if Barrie was paying attention, he MIGHT know better than to speculate amateur like Hook would be able to make better poison than professionals. But, yes, I suppose he didn't do any research on this.

... I mean, half of those poisons would likely neutralize each other, and I'm sure boiling will take care of several as well, for example the botulinum toxin (discovered 1820) denaturates at 80°C.

@hkmaly: I mean he also said that Hook was the pirate that ever other pirate feared, and also there are fairies and flying children and sugary cakes so sweet they killed children, so I highly doubt he was going for realism lol ^_^

Right. Sugar is safe. It's the chocolate which can kill you. Specifically, theobromine. Lethal amount of unsweetened dark chocolate for 25kg child can be as low as 1.8kg.

@hkmaly: Nowhere in the book does it mention that the cake is chocolate ^_^;; It is described as being a big rich cake with green sugar on it, and that specifically the dampness of the cake is what will kill them.

@TriaElf9: Even chocolate cake would contain relatively low amount of chocolate - it would be diluted by sugar (and, possibly, milk).

@hkmaly: But, the cake isn't chocolate is my point ^_^;; According to the book it's sugary and damp and that's it.
